Sermon series:

MORNINGS

What is worth getting into an argument about? The church has been pestered by disunity ever since Christ first prayed that we might be one. In his first letter to Timothy, his young co-worker, Paul outlines what things are worth fighting over, so that we may also be clear what things are really less important. There’s no reason to think that the issues will be different today.

We also start a series on Job, one of the oldest strands of our Scriptures. The book faces the primal question that has always troubled humankind: why do bad things happen to good people?

EVENINGS

We continue a series in Numbers: the people have experienced the salvation of the Exodus; how will they choose to live before God? We face the same challenge, given that the salvation of the Cross is already far behind us.

Then we start a series in the letter to the Hebrews, which picks up many of the issues from Numbers: following a “religion” can seem very attractive, because it offers “sight” when we are asked to walk by “faith”. But it is a step backwards, and the author reminds us of the treasures laid up for us in the truth of Jesus.
